They are waterproof (under water to ca. 1 meter), virtually unbreakable, dustproof and, of course, non-corrosive. Sealed with neoprene to protect contents from salty air, dust and sand. Inside foam pad, varies with different layers to adjust size for space requirements. A pressure release valve allows opening even when the outside temperature and air pressure changes.
