The multi-layer principle applies not only to the body as a whole, but also to the hands - the more layers, the better the thermal insulation. If the outside temperature drops, the body tries to protect the vital organs as well as the brain from the cold. This is done by the organism reducing the blood flow to the outer extremities. The vessels constrict, toes and fingers are less well supplied. That is why we often freeze first on hands and hands and feet, even if the body is otherwise warm. Wrist Gaiter 200 made of Ullfrotté Original 200 are knitted in the round and equipped with a thumb loop. They can be worn directly against the skin under water-resistant gloves, but work equally well as a warming layer when gloves are not needed in milder temperatures. Wool is nature's functional material and no one has yet managed to artificially create a fiber that has such fantastic properties as wool. Wool fibers can absorb up to 30 percent of their own weight in moisture without feeling damp. When moisture is absorbed, an exothermic process creates so-called heat of absorption, so wool is warm even when it is damp. Ullfrotté Original can be machine washed at 60 °C if necessary.
