In pure combat use, the dagger blade still has clear advantages due to its shape. Thus, the penetration effect is much higher compared to conventional blades and the knife can be wielded in far more tactical maneuvers than a single-edged blade. Achilles heel of most daggers is the only lack of flexibility, which not infrequently lead to breakage of the blade. This is not an uncommon case, especially with long dagger blades. For this reason, the designer Dietmar Pohl has deliberately chosen the highly flexible 55Si7 steel, which can be bent up to 30%. This is exactly why Original Eickhorn-Solingen also uses this steel for its bayonets. At the same time, in order to increase the cutting durability of the KM5000, the blade was produced using a hollow grinding process. To protect against corrosion, the blade is coated with a black Kalgard coating. The striking element at the end of the handle was adapted to the area of application as a weapon and pronounced in a strongly pointed shape.
