ARMOR-TEX:
This fiber is one of the strongest and lightest fibers in the world. This light polyethylene is ten times stronger than steel, more durable than polyester and has a specific strength that is 40 percent greater than that of aramid fiber. ARMOR-TEX fiber is formed from molecular ultra-high density polyethylene produced by a patented gel-spun process. Polyethylene is a remarkably durable plastic and ARMOR-TEX Technologies scientists have captured the tremendous natural strength of the molecular structure of this everyday plastic to the point of using it to produce one of the strongest yet lightest fibers in the world
Gel-spinning processing and other production steps provide an increased melting temperature of 150 to 300 degrees over standard polyethylenes.
Light enough to float, it still has high resistance to chemicals, water and UV light. It has outstanding properties in damping performance, flexibility fatigue and is transparent to radar scanning
ARMOR-TEX fiber is used worldwide in police and military applications in the manufacture of clothing and equipment.
