Jerven Fjellduken Extreme bivy bag
The Jerven Fjellduken Extreme was developed at the request of the Norwegian Defence Forces - a windbreaker that is warm enough to replace a sleeping bag in winter. The same outer fabric as the Fjellduken Original, only with PrimaLoft® 170g/m² filling. Jerven Fjellduken Extreme is 220 cm long and offers more space and legroom than the Original and Thermo. The wind protection measures 102 x 220 cm. The outer material of the Fjellduken is completely aluminium-coated and waterproof on the inside. The aluminium coating means that the heat is radiated back and retained in the insulation, just like a rescue blanket. The zips that can be opened on both sides, sleeve openings and reinforced eyelets offer a wide range of possible uses. It can be used as a poncho, tarp, sleeping bag, sleeping bag cover, hide bag and even as a hammock.
In tests carried out by the Oulo Regional Institute in winter, with an outside temperature of -14°C, the temperature inside the closed Jerven Fjellduken Thermo was +15°C - a temperature difference of 29°C°! The only source of warmth was the person inside the bivouac sack. The Jerven Fjellduken Original achieved a temperature difference of 9°C in the same test.
What is "Fjellduken"?
In Norway, the invention is commonly known as the "Fjellduken" or "Jervenduken". It was primarily designed as a wind and waterproof poncho/windbreaker for hunters, but can also be used as a makeshift bivouac or a flexible tarpaulin/tarp. The Jerven Biwacksack can protect a person as well as the rucksack from rain and cold. It can be pitched as a roof construction for a whole group or used as a sleeping bag or cover for the sleeping bag. Thanks to its versatility and well thought-out design, the Jerven bivy sack can be used exactly as it is needed. The Jerven Fjellduken has been used successfully by the Norwegian Army since 1983. The unique Jerven Mountain camouflage is perfect for mountain landscapes, which is why the Jerven Fjellduken is now also used by other European mountain troops.

Jerven uses only the best raw materials to manufacture the Jerven Fjellduken. Both the raw materials and the sewing work are carefully controlled. That is why Jerven also offers a 10-year guarantee against any material or sewing defects.
However, the guarantee does not cover damage caused by fire, sharp objects or improper use. In addition, the Jerven Fjellducken must be washed, impregnated and cared for in accordance with the recommendations.
