Beschreibung
The lightweight, unlined Jerven Fjellduken Original bivy sack is large enough to sit in, excellent as a poncho, under which also the backpack still finds room. The outer material of the Fjellduken is completely aluminum coated on the inside and waterproof. Due to the aluminum coating, the heat is radiated back, just like a space blanket. A disadvantage is the condensation that forms. However, the outer shell is intentionally 100% waterproof and windproof. When you're sitting in a swamp, breathable fabrics aren't waterproof enough. And besides, they let heat escape. The zippers that open on both sides, sleeve vents, and reinforced eyelets offer a variety of uses. For example, it can be used as a poncho, tarp, bivy sack, hunt bag, and even a hammock.

In tests conducted by the Oulo Regional Institute in winter, with an outside temperature of -14°C, the temperature inside the closed Jerven Fjellduken Thermo was +15°C - a temperature difference of 29°C°! The only source of heat was the person inside the bivy sack. The Jerven Fjellduken Original reached a temperature difference of 9°C in the same test.

What is Fjellduken"?
In Norway, the invention is commonly known as "Fjellduken" or "Jervenduken". Primarily it was designed as a wind and waterproof poncho/windbreak for hunters, but it can just as easily be used as a makeshift bivouac or flexible-use tent tarp. The Jerven bivy sack can protect both a person and the backpack from precipitation and cold. It can be opened as a roof structure for a whole group or serve as a sleeping bag or cover for the sleeping bag. Thanks to its versatility and thoughtful design, the Jerven bivy sack can be used exactly as it is needed at any given time. The Jerven Fjellduken has been successfully used by the Norwegian Army since 1983. The unique Jerven Mountain camouflage is perfectly suited for mountain landscapes, which is why the Jerven Fjellduken is now also used by other European mountain units.
