NEXUS Ballistics Level IIIa for Warrior Drop Down Pouch
Nexus Level IIIa soft ballistics are manufactured in the UK using SB51 Dyneema with a basis weight of 5.3kg/m2. The Nexus inserts are NIJ Level IIIa approved and have a V-50 fragmentation rate of more than 630 metres per second (630 m/s). This means that the Nexus Level IIIa soft ballistics are capable of stopping 9mm pistol and 9mm sub (e.g. MP5) at higher velocities. Furthermore, in addition to .357 SIG and .44 Mag. Although Nexus Level IIIa soft ballistics will stop a projectile, the amount of energy absorbed by the body is referred to as trauma value, The face signature is far less with Nexus Soft Armor.
The NIJ Level IIIa standard allows an energy absorption, called trauma value, of up to 44 mm (this usually leads to bruising and even broken bones). The Nexus Level IIIa insoles reduce this trauma value to an average of only 25 mm. In addition, Nexus soft ballistics have a V-50 of more than 630 m/s, which is 30% more than the NATO standard (e.g. Osprey insoles). This means that Nexus Level IIIa soft ballistics offer very high protection against fragmentation impact from I.E.Ds and grenades as well as greater ballistic protection against small arms and 9mm sub (e.g. MP5).
The quality and protective effect of Dyneema is not affected by moisture. However, all inserts are heat-sealed in a protective sleeve for added water repellency and protection from sunlight.
The NIJ Level IIIa (NIJ 0101.06) protection class offers balanced protection against the following calibres:
