The Snugpak Enhanced Patrol Poncho Black is a lightweight and versatile solution if you want reliable protection from rain and wet conditions whilst on outdoor trips, on duty or on longer marches. Weighing just 410 g, this waterproof Poncho is one of the lightest items of kit available and, thanks to its compact pack size of just 20 × 10 cm, can be easily stowed away in a Backpack.

The oversized fit offers plenty of freedom of movement and allows you to wear the Poncho comfortably over your clothes and even over a Backpack. The extended back panel protects not only you, but also your Equipment from the rain. The taped seams and waterproof PU coating ensure reliable protection from the elements.

Versatile rain protection for when you’re out and about

Whether you’re trekking, practising bushcraft, on an outdoor mission or on duty: the Enhanced Patrol Poncho is quick to reach for when the weather suddenly takes a turn for the worse. The adjustable drawstring hood can be tailored to the shape of your head and protects your head and neck from the rain.

A spacious chest pocket with a Velcro fastening provides space for smaller items of kit that need to remain within easy reach. After use, the Poncho can be stowed away compactly in the supplied Dry Bag.

Thanks to its generous cut, the Poncho can also be used as a simple emergency shelter or emergency bivouac cover if required. For example, it can provide additional protection from the rain in the event of an unexpected change in the weather whilst on a trekking tour.

Waterproof and easy to care for

The Snugpak Enhanced Patrol Poncho features a PU coating that ensures it is waterproof and requires no special additional care. The outer surface is also treated with a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish. This ensures that water initially beads up and rolls off the surface particularly well.

If the DWR treatment wears off over time, the outer fabric may become more susceptible to moisture and appear less water-repellent. The actual waterproofing provided by the PU coating remains unaffected by this. If necessary, the DWR treatment can be renewed using suitable waterproofing products, such as those from Nikwax or Granger’s. Depending on the product, this is applied by washing it in or spraying it on.

There is no fixed interval for re-treatment. The easiest way to tell is to check whether water still beads up and rolls off the surface or is increasingly being absorbed into the outer fabric.
