Spiritus Systems at Recon Company: modular plate carriers and chest rigs for operational use

Spiritus Systems was developed by veterans who assembled and refined their equipment under operational conditions in Afghanistan. For over 30 years, we at Recon Company have been equipping law enforcement agencies and working as development partners on our own projects. We include brands such as Spiritus Systems in our range according to the same rigorous criteria that we apply to our own developments: performance is measured against everyday operational use, not against a spec sheet. The result is a modular carry system for users who prioritise a low profile and scalability above all else.

Spiritus Systems Plate Carrier: Accessories for the carrying system

With the Spiritus Systems Plate Carrier, the accessories determine the configuration, and that is precisely where this range comes in. The Micro Fight Chest Rig and the placards attach directly to the plate carrier via the rear hook panel, eliminating the need for any modifications to the base carrier. The corresponding platform designs can be found in the ‘Plate Carriers and Vests’ category.

• Side armour bags accommodate ballistic side panels and close the gap between the front and rear plates.

• The LV-120 Tubes shoulder straps attach via a quick-release fastening system and can be detached without tools whilst under load.

• The MOLLE Expander Wings widen the attachment area at the sides of the chassis, creating space for additional pouches.

• The Placard 5.56 holds three rifle magazines at the front and can be switched as a single unit between a chest rig and a plate carrier.

Micro Fight Chest Rig: from the Placard to a standalone system

The Micro Fight Chest Rig is the brand’s second main product line and works both ways: as a placard attached to the plate carrier or as a standalone Spiritus Systems chest rig with its own shoulder straps. The Mk4 and Mk5 chassis share the same footprint; further accessories can be found with the chest rigs and matching inserts in the magazine pouches.

• Without the side buckles, the rig functions as a placard attached to the plate carrier; with the buckles, it remains a self-contained Micro Fight Chest Rig.

• Magazine inserts for pistols, submachine guns (Quad MPX) and 5.56mm rifle magazines can be swapped depending on the mission.

• The hook panel on the back attaches Expander Wings or additional pouches, expanding the storage capacity as required.

• Elasticated MOLLE magazine pouches and fixed inserts are available in parallel, allowing you to combine quick access with secure retention.

Pouches, magazine inserts and compatibility within the MOLLE system

Manufactured in the USA, with thermoplastic reinforcements in the chassis and robust Velcro surfaces at the contact points. A wide range of pouches is available for the Micro Fight Chest Rig and the plate carrier: the SPUD Pouch for hand grenades, a pouch for Liberty Dynamic flashbangs, and the JSTA Pouch for specialist equipment. For medical support tasks, the Delta Bag, available as both a bag and a rucksack, meets the greater equipment requirements. The attachment system follows standard specifications, with MOLLE on the cummerbund and a Placarda mount via the hook panel, allowing pouches and comms to be attached to the same plates. Other manufacturers in this segment are listed in the brand overview.

Spiritus Systems in everyday service: who the brand is suited to

To be honest: Spiritus Systems is professional equipment for emergency services personnel, not cheap training gear for those on a tight budget. The price reflects this, but in return the platform remains compatible and expandable for years to come. For personnel who rely on a low profile, compact design and a modular system, this justifies the investment. If you’re simply looking for basic training kit, you’ll get better value for money with a robust, entry-level brand. If you’re unsure which configuration suits your operational profile, the Recon Team’s specialist advisory service will objectively assess the options for you.
