The Mildot Master® is an analog calculator designed on the principle of a slide rule, using logarithmic and inverse logarithmic scales specifically designed to perform the following operations:

- Quickly and easily calculate the distance to the target, based on a measurement of the target with a mildot reticle, by aligning the estimated target size directly opposite the mildot measurement and then reading the distance from an index mark.

- Quickly and easily calculating the sighting correction required to compensate for bullet drop and/or wind drift for a given distance, allowing the shooter to use either the äequivalent sighting correction (angular minute or MOA) or the equivalent projection (mils) by reading the equivalents in both MOA and mils directly opposite the bullet drop/wind drift indication.

- In addition, the angle of fire for uphill or downhill shots can be accurately measured and the up/down compensation can be accurately calculated to reduce the errors that such shots can cause.
