In particular, the combination of innovative KAPOK fiber and odor-inhibiting merino wool gives the Biotrek trekking socks from UYN that special something: KAPOK, the lightest plant fiber in the world, is reinforced with tried-and-tested, fine merino wool - so your feet stay comfortably warm, even at the lowest temperatures. Perfect heat regulation, moisture and odour-neutralizing NATEX fibres from the castor bean plant complete this dream sock package for long, demanding and tough tours in low to cold temperatures.
The Zerocuff technology developed by UYN does not require any cuffs at the hem - blood circulation is therefore not interrupted or impeded under any circumstances - without the Biotrek socks slipping! Extra padding on the soles also ensures maximum comfort; even if you are walking for days through the most difficult terrain - you will be spared fatigue or (even worse) blisters on your feet!
It's clear: when hiking, trekking and on extreme trekking tours, your feet are one of the most important parts of your set-up (and ours too, by the way) - if you limp, you won't get far, and you might not even get there.

The UYN Biotrek Heavy Duty Socks are made from the following biotech materials:
KAPOK - is a completely organic fiber made from the fruit of the Ceiba Pentandra, a plant from South America that grows up to 60m tall. This "vegetable wool" is the lightest natural fiber in the world - the hollow fiber consists of 80% air. There is no more efficient natural insulation fiber.
MERINO - the fine wool of merino sheep has been tried and tested for thousands of years and is still valued and in demand today for its natural, odor-inhibiting, soft properties.
BIOLIGHT - the fiber is obtained from beech - hard-wearing, yet very light and extremely breathable. The fiber stores twice as much moisture as cotton and is super-soft. BIOLIGHT is 100% purely biodegradable.
NATEX - the Natex fiber obtained from the castor bean plant reduces the weight of the garment by 25% and dries 50% faster than conventional nylon. NATEX has above-average elasticity and also has a bacteriostatic effect, which means it minimizes odours.
FLEXICORN - was invented as an alternative to elastane (virtually a recyclable bio-polyester!), it is obtained from corn seeds, is crease-resistant, UV-resistant and extremely elastic and resilient. It is also extremely quick-drying.
