The ultra-rugged Eickhorn Defender is a hybrid of hatchet, knife and machete and ideal for survival and bushcraft. The sturdy 4.7 mm thick blade of the shark knife made of stainless 1.4110 steel (54-56 HRC) ensures high stability. The back of the blade can withstand massive hammer blows to cut bones, for example, making it ideal for batoning. A recess for the index finger allows the knife to be gripped very short or close to the cutting edge. The tang of the blade runs through the entire handle and peeks out at the rear end. This allows the end of the handle to be used for hammering or breaking window glass. The non-slip, closed G-10 handle scales allow for safe wielding of this machete knife. The end of the handle has been equipped with an additional hole to accommodate a wrist strap or a safety cord. Thus equipped, this exceptional knife offers the inclined outdoor enthusiast enough reserves. Even the roughest work in the forest craft is no real challenge for this knife. The elongated, no-frills cutting edge has been tried and tested for centuries and makes it easy for the user to resharpen. This allows, for example, the edge to be sharpened with a flat river pebble in an emergency, or survival situation
