The Thermacell E-4 Earth Scent refill pack is a 48-hour refill pack consisting of 4 butane gas cartridges and 12 active ingredient plates. The Earth Scent variant was developed specifically for hunting. The additional ingredients reliably mask human odor. All Thermacell devices use the same refill products. A gas cartridge lasts up to 12 hours, an active ingredient platelet up to 4 hours. Gas cartridges and active ingredient platelets can be stored and do not have to be used up immediately. Unused active ingredient platelets are packaged in an airtight container to maximize shelf life.

A gas cartridge lasts up to 12 hours, and an active ingredient platelet lasts up to 4 hours.
Refills can be stored for long periods of time. Gas cartridge and active ingredient platelets do not have to be used in one.
The synthetic active ingredient D-Trans-Allethrin belongs to the pyrethroid family and is derived from the natural biocide pyrethrin (extracted from crysanthemums).
